Pastor Brad surrendered to the ministry in 2006, and has served the LORD at Fellowship Baptist Church (Bainbridge, GA), Pine Level Baptist Church (Cairo, GA), First United Methodist Church (Dothan, AL), and First Baptist Church (Slocomb, AL)
The majority of his ministry has been with the people of FBC serving as the Youth and Associate Pastor at First Slocomb, from 2009-2019 and now as our senior pastor.
Brad received a Bachelors Degree in Ministry Studies from The Baptist College of Florida.
Brad is married to Nicki, and is father to Isaac, Reagan, Thomas, and Lexie.
In his free time Brad enjoys cards and board games with family, reading, and watching soccer.
Melinda lives in Slocomb and is recently widowed from her high school sweetheart, Benny
Baxley. They had been married for 40 years. Benny was a retired lieutenant with the Dothan
Police Department. They have been blessed with three children and their “bonus” children: Drue and Matthew Ellis, Skyler and Brianna Baxley, grandson Josiah Baxley, Spencer Baxley and Ashley Peters (fiance), Joshua and Kaley Adams, Finley and Huxley.
Melinda has been a member of First Baptist Church since childhood and has been the ministry
assistant since 1981. She has taught many Sunday School and Discipleship classes of all ages,
missions classes, VBS, children’s choir, and TeamKID. She has helped to prepare and serve meals for DiscipleNOW weekends and FBC Women’s Conferences and banquets.
She enjoys playing the piano and singing, and has been an FBC pianist for many years, as well as singing in the choir and in various ensembles and praise teams. Her hobbies include anything that involves spending time with her family and friends.
One of her favorite Bible verses is The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

My name is Deanna Lester and I am the Children’s Coordinator here at FBC Slocomb. I have been married to my husband Trent for over 10 years and we have two boys, Whit and Gray. I have been a member of FBC most of my life. I love spending time with my family, the beach and relaxing on the couch with my boys. My love for children and desire for them to know Jesus is what lead me to become the Children’s Coordinator here at FBC Slocomb. My prayer is that each child who steps into our church will know that they are made by God for a purpose and are
loved unconditionally!
Corteland graduated from Slocomb High School in 2017 and recently completed his bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from The Baptist College of Florida. Corteland grew up in Slocomb community, and was an active member of FBC Slocomb and the Student Ministry here before having the opportunity to come on staff. In his spare time Corteland loves to read, learn new hobbies, and spend time with his wife, Elizabeth.

Minister of Music and Education
Joshua Adams is the Minister of Music and Education at FBC Slocomb. He graduated from the Baptist College of Florida with a Degree in Music in 2015, and has been serving in ministry for 11 years. He has been married to the love of his life since May of 2015 and they have two wonderful boys, Finley & Huxley. Joshua plays piano and guitar, and is passionate about leading others in singing praise and surrendering their lives in worship to the Father, Son, & Spirit. In his spare time Joshua loves fishing, reading and studying, being surrounded by the beauty of Creation, traveling and exploring with his wife and kids, playing and wrestling with his boys, and going on scenic walks with his family.
